Electronics & Communication Engineering

Three Year Diploma course in Electronics & Communication Engineering had been started in the year 1992 with an overview toprepare students for the ever-expanding electronics and telecommunication engineering fields. This course aims at providing a strong foundation in theoretical, practical and design aspects of ECE. The core of the course equips students with fundamental knowledge in electronic circuits, electronic devices, signal processing, communication, and computers The course is of six semesters (Three years) full time duration with an intake of 30 students.

Admission Qualification:-

For admission in the course in Electronics & Communication Engineering a candidate should have passed Matriculation examination or equivalent with Mathematics, Science (Physics, Chemistry & Biology) and English.

Curriculum:-

The curriculum is as prescribed by Punjab State Board for Technical Education & Industrial Training, Chandigarh.

Infrastructure :-

The Department is well equipped with various laboratories where the students get an overview of basic and advanced electronics & communication engineering concepts and also learn to apply them in real-life applications.

Computer Lab-I

Electronics engineering deals with implementation of applications, principles and algorithms developed within many related fields, for example solid-state physics, radio engineering, telecommunications, control systems, signal processing, systems engineering, computer engineering, instrumentation engineering, electric power control, robotics, and many others. for making students practically aware about computer related subjects like Computer Networks, Microprocessors, C Programming applications, Personal Computer Organizationetc, ECE department also has one well equipped ,up-to-date, air conditioned computer laboratory with 22 PCs of Latest Configuration. The main features of laboratories are licensed software,High-speed internet connectivity.Sufficient time is allotted to give an optimum lab exposure to the students. Individual attention is given to every student. Students are provided round-the -clock internet facility, where they can surf the net to gather knowledge from various sites.

Electronic Devices & Circuits Lab

Our College possesses well equipped Electronic Engineering Lab including Basic Electronic, Electronic Devices &Circuits Lab andPower Electronic Lab. Electronic engineering involves the design and testing of electronic circuits that use the properties of components such as resistors, capacitors, inductors, diodes, transistors and thyristors. In this lab, students may get their first knowledge of electronic concepts and basic components. Emphasis lay on the devices used inday-to-day consumer electronic products also.

INSTRUMENTATION & PLC LAB

In the real world of work the students are required to handle wide variety of instruments while testing, trouble shooting, calibration etc. This Lab will help students to gain the knowledge of working principles and operation of different instruments like CRO, DSO, Multimeter , Voltmeter, Signal generator ,PLC and all types of Transducers. During practical sessions students will acquire the requisite skills .The lab emphasis practical work in the field of instrumentation so that the student can understand the practical significance of the various instruments.

DIGITAL ELECTRONICS AND EMBEDDED SYSTEM LAB

The digital systems and microprocessors have significant importance in the area of electronics This Lab has been designed to make the students know about the fundamental principles of digital electronics and gain familiarity with the available IC chips like logic gates ,flip flops, counters etc. Adequate competency needs to be developed by giving sufficient practical knowledge in microprocessors (programming as well as interfacing), A/D, D/A Converters and other topics. This Lab aims to give a background in the broad field of digital systems design and microprocessors. Embedded systems and Micro-controllers have also assumed a great significance in the electronic and consumer goods industry and are a very vital field. The Lab aims expose students to the embedded systems besides giving them adequate knowledge of Micro controllers.

COMMUNICATION SYSTEM LAB

This Lab deals with the advanced Analog , Digital and Data communication techniques beyond the conventional communication. This Lab has been designed to make the students know about the fundamental principles of analog and digital modulation techniques like AM, FM ,ASK,FSK etc along with the practical knowledge of audio and video systems, line communications ,optical fiber communication and microwave communication systems. The main emphasis of this lab is to provide practical knowledge to students about the different types of advanced communication systems with the help of latest equipments like Microwave Bench and OFC Trainer kit .

CONSUMER ELECTRONICS LAB

The objective of this lab is to give students an in depth knowledge of various electronic audio and video devices and systems. Further this lab will introduce the students with working principles and main features of consumer electronics gadgets/goods/devices like audio-systems, CD systems. TV, VCR and other items like digital clocks, calculators microwave ovens, photostat machines etc. Which in-turn will develop in them capabilities of assembling, fault diagnosis and rectification in a systematic way. This lab also gives the knowledge of the various day-to-day life electronic products.
