Community Development through Polytechnic (CDTP)

Community Development through Polytechnic Scheme C.C.E.T (Diploma Wing) Sector-26, Chandigarh

Community Development through Polytechnics Scheme C.D.T.P has been started at Chandigarh College of Engineering & Technology Diploma wing, w.e.f. October 2010. This is one of the key schemes of Technical Education, started under the direct central assistance of MHRD, Govt. of India with a view that the Community Polytechnics should act as a focal point for the development of rural community through the application of Science & Technology in the rural areas and generate self/wage employment opportunity through non-formal training in competency /need based skill in various trades (Courses are free of cost, No age limit and No qualification required). This scheme is for the benefit of rural youth, women, school dropouts, SCs /STs and other weaker sections of the society.

The major activities identified for the Community Polytechnic Scheme are as under:-

  • Socio economic survey
  • Manpower development.
  • Transfer of technologies
  • Technical services
  • Support services.
  • Dissemination of information

There are twenty one villages under U.T., Chandigarh in which seventeen villages are governed by Panchayats and rest are governed by the Municipal Corporation .The main objectives as above are being achieved since January 2003 through continuous efforts to cover all the villages under U.T. Before starting of courses, meetings with prominent villagers, Panchayat people and other organizations have been held for the identification of needs and requirements of villagers /under privileged people.

Admission to above courses are opened and these courses started w.e.f 1st May, 2013.
